Heroes
Heroes are the player avatars in the game world. Every Hero starts with different Base Stats, but these can be further influenced by the in-game Equipment and Traits. Heroes can be NFTs. NFT Heroes retain their level after a Season ends. Non-NFT Heroes get their level reset to 1. Players can have an unlimited number of Heroes but use only one at a time.
Hero Background
Trevor

Trevor, a local down-on-his-luck mercenary. One day, while on a contract to hunt down rats, Trevor notices some curious blue feathers. Thinking that whatever creature lost these must be worth a pretty penny, alive or dead, he stumbles upon a secret route that takes him to the ruin-filled enclave of Orclop. Trevor’s mind starts racing: with the exotic beast and these amazing mythical ruins, Trevor's fortunes could soon take a turn for the better!
Awareness of Shatterpoint: While not the sharpest tool in the shed, Trevor has a very unusual skill for a mercenary: a rudimentary ability to read. He was once hired by a cabal of Sorcerers. Assuming a band of hired swords could not understand their vast vaults of knowledge, not to mention read them, the Sorcerers were careless with their treasured texts. During his downtime, Trevor was curious to understand these mystic writings. From the little that he did managed to parse, he learned of "a great calamity," that he could avoid only if he could find certain "hidden ruins." This reminded him of the local end-of-the-world prophets he meets every once in a while. Trevor laughed at the notion, but the Sorcerers seemed to be hell-bent on finding these ruins.
Sheer-Ei

Sheer-Ei, a genius researcher. Having made great strides in quantum physics research, Sheer-Ei is chosen to look into the possibilities of warping spacetime and teleportation. After numerous reports of missing personnel, the labs are closed down, but this does not deter Sheer-Ei from pursuing her research. Several years of isolation and experimentation later, she finally makes a breakthrough. Teleportation is now possible. Although the breakthrough comes at the most inopportune of times—something is happening in the facility, and the local fauna is mounting a full-on assault. Before she gets to use this technology to the fullest extent, she must survive and clear the hostiles from the facility.
Awareness of Shatterpoint: Sheer-Ei and her team theorize about a possible fate of the universe. If their calculations are correct, spacetime, all by itself, seems to loop back around to a procedurally derived point. These papers are somewhat controversial. If proven true, that would mean that teleportation is possible and the universe might have gone through countless loops. This does not sit well with everyone, but nobody can deny that the preliminary model has been calculated correctly. This event is dubbed the “Big Loop.” A group of different organizations decides to fund her research.
Baynite

Baynite, a fierce scavenger. One fateful day, while Baynite is leading his relatively successful scavenging gang on a raid, something goes horribly wrong. As they're trying to escape from a swarm of robots, they discover an open portal. Baynite has a very simple choice: order the gang through the portal and hope for the best, or get torn apart by the robots. Everyone rushes in, but on the other side, Baynite finds himself alone. Whether the gang is scattered or dead, the point of Baynite’s life remains unchanged: press on and survive.
Awareness of Shatterpoint: In Moltar, there is no more knowledge. Baynite, much like the world he inhabits, is concerned with only one thing: survival. He is unaware of a grand universe-wide event, he uses the portals to facilitate his survival.
Admiral Finlay Scofield

Admiral Finlay Scofield, a veteran space admiral. While helping out during an evacuation, the admiral's ships come into contact with a particularly nasty strain of infectious lifeforms that manage to hijack some of Scofield’s nervous system. With the help of botanists and doctors, the infection is halted. However, the organisms are intimately intertwined. The admiral goes berserk: “Not satisfied with hijacking my fleet, now they've hijacked my body! I am taking my ships back, or they will have to take me with my ships!”
Awareness of Shatterpoint: Scofield had no awareness of events like Shatterpoint. There had been some experimentation with teleportation, but nobody on the ship took it seriously. The same cannot be said for the spore-sized lifeforms. Due to some unique mutations and their habitat, they can receive Quantus dust, allowing them to survive Shatterpoint events. Although they are aware, there is not much they can do about it, at least not until this symbiosis with Eohn 7 Yi-S plants. After the infection of Admiral Finlay Scofield, he starts to see visions of fragmented, unrecognizable structures. He thinks the plants are still trying to hijack his body, paying little heed. In time, these visions prove to be prophetic.
Sha Tu'Szu

Sha Tu’szu, an otherworldly pathfinder missionary. Originally from the salt world of Milghim, Sha is a member of the dominant religious institution. Born and raised near a monastery, he has a strong wanderlust for the cosmos, and the monks are more than happy to oblige this curiosity. Learning of Fy’il-trunga (a local Shatterpoint-like prophecy), Sha is determined to find the first signs of it happening… or, at the very least, create a foothold for his successors to continue the exploration.
Awareness of Shatterpoint: The followers of Milghim’s religion believe in Fy’il-Trunga, a strife-filled time ruled over by a prime evil of deliberate annihilation, Grihell’ir, after which nothing will ever be the same. Sha Tu’szu is one of the pathfinder missionaries sent all over the cosmos to look for signs of Fy’il-trungar, spreading the message to be wary of Fy’il-Trunga to the local populations of this as well. Sha Tu’szu actually managed to find the beginning of Shatterpoint.
Leveling
Player Heroes get access to more powerful equipment by leveling up. To level up, players must collect enough Experience. The Experience required to level up increases with each level.
Players gain Experience by defeating enemies and completing side-quests. Players only gain Experience, they can never lose it. Defeating strong enemies gives more Experience than defeating weaker ones.
Maximum Hero level is 50.
Stats
Base Stats
Every Hero has 3 character Base Stats:
Strength increases damage dealt
Agility increases Evasion
Constitution increases total Health
Every Hero starts with a unique combination of Base Stats, some more extreme than others.
Base Stats can be further increased by wearing equipment with certain affixes. Leveling up grants Players the ability to equip more powerful items. Base Stats do not have a maximum value.
Combat Stats
There are 5 Combat Stats:
Health - the amount of Damage a character can receive. Reaching 0 means the character is defeated.
Damage - the potential number of points a character can deduce from a hostile character's Health.
Defense - the number of points deduced from incoming Damage.
Accuracy - the attacker's rating used with the defender's Evasion to determine the chance of an attack hitting.
Evasion - the defender's rating used with the attacker's Accuracy to determine the chance of an attack hit.
Damage Effects
Elemental Damage - this type of damage is typically very low, but it ignores Defense.
Critical Hit Chance - chance for a character to multiply their regular Damage.
Critical Hit Damage - Critical Damage can be further increased with specific affixes.
Block Chance - chance for a character to nullify incoming Damage.
Traits
Traits are permanent, passive player Hero upgrades. Heroes receive a Trait every 10 levels, up to a maximum of 5. For a fee, Traits can be rerolled up to 3 times per Hero.
There are 3 varieties of Traits:
Common - simple traits that permanently boost some stat, armor class, etc.
Rare - more powerful versions of common traits
Unique - game-changing Traits that may warrant an equipment build around that trait

Generic Traits
Generic traits can be rolled by any Hero and are independent of a Hero's background.
